Ryan Hudson is a British composer and producer based in London. Known for his pioneering use of orchestral forces and experimental electronic music, his work has led him to score various films, audiobooks, and video games. He has also worked with many award-winning artists, including Corinne Bailey Rae, Adekunle Gold, Becky Hill, and Guy Barker. His music has been recorded by the world-renowned London Symphony Orchestra and the Guildhall Session Orchestra, with many of his works also being performed in Milton Court Concert Hall, the Roundhouse, and Royal Festival Hall.
Originally a jazz guitarist and pianist, Ryan first began developing a love for film scoring in his late teens before attending the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to specialise in film music. During his time so far at Guildhall, he has co-founded the Guildhall Session Band with the head of Electronic Music, Mike Roberts, an ensemble consisting of some of London’s greatest jazz musicians. Ryan also led the first official Session Band project at Guildhall, where he recorded a production music album at Livingston Studio 1, featuring Ralph Salmins on drums and John Harle (OBE) as the bandleader. Since then, the Session Band has been involved in multiple recording sessions across London, and Ryan continues to engage with them to this day.
Ryan has been mentored by several industry leaders, including Academy-Award winning composer Rachel Portman (Emma, 1997), Grammy-award nominee Stephen Endelman (De-Lovely, 2005), Christopher White (arranger, Van Morrison), and Guy Barker (OBE). His work as an arranger has led him to work with Corinne Bailey Rae, creating orchestral arrangements of her album ‘Black Rainbows’ that were performed live at her Concert in the Roundhouse in 2025. Similarly, he worked closely with Adekunle Gold and producer Seyifunmi Michael, creating orchestral arrangements of tracks from Adekunle’s album ‘Fuji’ for his performance at the Royal Festival Hall in 2026.
Ryan also has extensive experience working on music teams for several feature films, including ‘Lost and Found in Kumbh’, where he worked with the composer Stephen Endelman as an orchestrator for the film. He has also worked with Stephen on the SOVAS award-winning audiobook ‘The Legend of Valentine’ as an additional music writer. Ryan’s own scores have been featured in many festivals in London and across the Uk. More recent projects include writing arrangements for a marching band at the 2025 Lady Mayor’s Show, where he also conducted the ensemble live on BBC One, and working on his new solo album, releasing later this year.
